Archive

The below archive shows bodies of work that sit outside the current core focus of the practice, but remain conceptually connected and have often informed more recent works.

THE BATHERS

This intermittent, ongoing series translates the compositional logic of the abstracts into embodied form. Figures are built from repeated units and arranged within compressed fields, emphasising structure over gesture with bodies functioning less as subject than as architecture. This body of work will be presented in a solo exhibition at Etesian Gallery in Menorca (June, 2026).

TEXT WORK

These works operate within a coded system in which each letter corresponds to a specific colour. The compositions are generated through adherence to this rule, allowing structure to emerge from constraint and chance. In later pieces, the code is intentionally disrupted. The fragmented forms developed here carry forward into the abstract works as glyph-like elements. Statements were informed by the True Selves Project, initiated in the 2020 lockdown period.

FIGURATIVE WORK

Figurative work began appearing alongside text in exhibitions from 2021. These paintings position the figure within controlled spatial systems. The body begins to function less as subject and more as structure — a shift that anticipates the later 'Bathers' series.

'QUILT' SERIES

The 'quilt' works investigate modular organisation and the subjectivity of colour. Units are arranged through repetition and variation, establishing a system-based approach that re-emerges in later geometric paintings.

EARLY ABSTRACTIONS ( - 2019)

Artworks move from textile to painted medium. These paintings mark the emergence of a modular compositional system. Repetition and spatial control shape the formal language that continues in later work.

WOVEN TEXTILE WORKS

These works establish a material and compositional logic based on repetition and structure. The emphasis on constructed surface forms the foundation for later integration of textile within painting.
